### 4. Modify a file in the depot

For a depot file to be modified, you will have to check it out first. Otherwise, the corresponding local file will not be saved due to being read-only.

First, select the file in Depot page that you wish to modify, and click Check Out. When the file icon is shown as , you will be able to double click to open and modify the file.

When you finish modifying the file, save it, and close it. When you see the file icon changes to , click Submit, input description for this submission, and click Submit button below. The file is then uploaded to your depot.

When the file is shown as , it means the file is successfully uploaded.

Similarly, if you are submitting a modified file to your depot, you can firstly check out the exisiting file, replace it with the modified file in the workspace root path, go back to Ptrack, and click Submit.
